Hi there! If you’re here you probably know me, or at least know my name and where abouts in the USA I come from 🙂
If not – my name is Maggie, and I’m born and raised in good ol’ midwest USA – St. Louis, MO to be exact! I’m technically a city girl who didn’t realize my love of the wild until I was in my mid-20s.
In 2017 I got sick – like really sick. I was in the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis. I survived (obviously), and the only reminder of that time is an ever-present elevated heart rate. Working out and cardio has been difficult ever since, but the last few months I’ve decided to say “FUCK IT” and I’m pushing myself anyway! Its slowly improving, and will just take some time.
Because cardio has been so difficult I’ve been forced to walk. Forced is a strong word – I LOVE WALKING! I especially love walking on a trail in the woods.
So I started hiking. I remember the first time – I had no clue what I was doing. I just went to a trail close by and started walking. I slowly built up my gear, gained confidence on the trails, got my premium AllTrails account, and kept going from there.
I finally decided I wanted to go farther for longer periods of time. I wanted to really get out there and explore on my terms! So, with the help of a friend with a saw, I converted my Honda CR-V into a camper! Its in 4 pieces, can easily be installed and taken out, and allows me to sleep on top while storing all my stuff underneath where it can be hidden. If I take the headrests off the front seats its the size of a double bed! I’ll include pictures at the end of the post.
Since then I’ve found my happy place in the wild, on the road. Sometimes on my own and sometimes with others.
The last few years I haven’t been out there as much, and I’m looking forward to getting back to that part of my life that I love so much! I’m also REALLY EXCITED to get Woods out on the trails! He doesn’t do so well in the car, but I have a feeling if I can tire him out he’ll do just fine 🙂
I will be posting here regularly, and will be sharing exclusive content on my Patreon! I’m not sure what all that entails yet, just like I’m not sure what all will be here. I do know that while I have a blog and social accounts for my business, this is going to be my happy little passion project that I hope grows into something more. No stress, no pressure, just joy and exploration. I do hope to have some merch and products down the line as well!
